Burnaby Conservatives celebrate Christmas and once again help Families in Need Society

Burnaby, British Columbia—The Burnaby-Douglas Conservative Association hosted the annual Christmas social at the La Fontana Café on Tuesday December 6th (Saint Nicholas Day). Friends, family, supporters, donors, and volunteers joined in for some Christmas cheer while supporting local families in need.
“I am so pleased we were able to host this event for the 3rd year in a row,” said riding association President Anna Lucarino. “Each year we invite our supporters, donors and volunteers, who this year in particular worked very hard to elect our strong, national, majority Conservative government under the leadership of our Prime Minister Stephen Harper, as our way to say thank you and celebrate Christmas while helping those most in need. That’s why we ask our guests to bring an unwrapped toy as a donation. We then donate all those toys to Burnaby’s own Helping Families in Need Society,” concluded Lucarino.
“We are thankful to have such generous supporters and great volunteers. I am in particular thankful to close to 20,000 Burnaby voters who cast a vote for me this year in support of the Conservative Stephen Harper led government,” said Ronald Leung, Conservative Candidate of Record in Burnaby-Douglas.
Helping Families in Need Society is a small group of dedicated volunteers who take time to pickup and distribute used household items to women from transition houses, single moms on income assistance, new immigrant families and needy families in our community. Burnaby—Douglas is a federal electoral district in the province of British Columbia that has been represented in the Canadian House of Commons since 1997. Burnaby-Douglas Conservative Association organizes, supports, and nominates local Conservative candidates to run as Members of Parliament. In 2011 general election the Conservative Candidate of Record Ronald Leung garnered 19,932 votes or 41% of the vote.
